About
About Benita Jones
Benita Jones (formerly know as Benita Washington), is a Selma, Alabama native who entered the gospel music scene with her historic win in the very first Gospel Dream gospel search hosted by Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr. and the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, which aired to record ratings on BET in 2003. Her debut release, “Hold On” (Light Records, 2004) hit multiple slots its first week on Billboard Album Charts, including the number 6 ranking on the Top Gospel Albums chart. That album also garnered her a Soul Train Lady of Soul nomination for Best Gospel Album and the lead single, “Thank You” occupied the number three position on the Gospel Radio Airplay charts for three consecutive weeks. Benita gained more popularity with her work as a background vocalist for CeCe Winans (among others) and was a featured opening guest artist on Winans’ 2005 Throne Room Tour.

Carrying Out a Career of Faith
Benita accepted a position at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Nashville as Overseer of Worship in the fall of 2005. In April of 2011 she was promoted to the role of General Overseer of Music and Worship Arts, overseeing several choirs, bands, and worship teams across several different locations. Her following grew from her work, and Benita evolved into one of the world’s most recognized internet worship leaders. Pastor Benita served briefly as Pastor of Worship at All Nations Worship Assembly of Atlanta, Georgia. An accomplished songwriter, Pastor Benita lead and co-wrote several songs featured on the “Hear Us from Heaven” album released by All Nations Atlanta during her tenure there. “The Isaiah Song” is just one of several song placements Pastor Benita has had the pleasure of co-writing.
Using Her Voice to Spread God’s Message
After demonstrating years of faithful service in shepherding God’s people, Benita was ordained a Pastor in the Lord’s church in the summer of 2019. Pastor Benita has used her gifting to not only teach the Gospel but also preach the Word of God. She is passionate about God’s word and has used her platform to instruct others. In 2014, Pastor Benita founded evolveU and she has served as clinician, consultant and artist in resident to music ministries across the globe. She hosted her first evolveU Worship Gathering, in 2017, where pastors, musicians, and music ministry leaders gathered to refresh, refuel, and realign themselves to lead at their local churches.
